The building includes 14 classrooms over three storeys with a rooftop play area, administrative offices, SEN areas and a studio which formed the 68-module build.
The hall, kitchen and plant room were traditionally built. The building is designed to sit on a split-level site with play areas externally.
Originally the Whitehall school children (circa 240) were based in cabins on-site. We organised and managed the decanting of classrooms to another site a mile away and once the new build was complete, we moved them into the new school. For both moves we managed the whole process.
The building was provided with gas and water services connected to three heating boilers and two water heaters located in the plant room. Throughout the school and hall underfloor heating was installed. Ventilation to the classrooms, teaching areas and reception area is provided via heat recovery units mounted within the ceiling voids.
The site constraints required the development of a detailed logistics strategy to deliver the wide load modules through the residential neighbourhood. This plan was agreed with the neighbours as part of our neighbour liaison strategy.
